I have always believed that everything can be found betwixt the pages of a book. And I was utterly WRONG. I was as wrong as wrong could be, a fact I conveniently found out within mere hours of arriving in China, my temporary home. The books, the internet, friends, experts, none of them prepared me for life in China, mostly because it isn’t the big differences that got me. It’s the things that seem so insignificant that I otherwise would never have noticed them, and no one deemed them important enough to note. It’s the small, quirky things that have always been so normal that it unknowingly became beyond my comprehension that any other ways even existed. It’s the differences in daily life that take you by surprise. So here’s the list, straight from one blonde-haired, green-eyed American student, just trying to find her way.
